Tous \u00e9taient de jeunes adultes en bonne sant\u00e9, ne fumaient pas et avaient un poids corporel normal. Les femmes participant \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9tude utilisaient toutes des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/birth-control\/monophasic-birth-control\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contraceptifs hormonaux monophasiques<\/a>, r\u00e9duisant ainsi le risque que les fluctuations hormonales du cycle menstruel aient un impact sur les r\u00e9sultats de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<p>Les participantes potentielles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soigneusement s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9es afin d&rsquo;\u00e9liminer les personnes souffrant de maladies chroniques, de troubles mentaux, de l&rsquo;utilisation r\u00e9guli\u00e8re de couvertures lest\u00e9es, de l&rsquo;habitude de dormir sans couverture, de mauvaises habitudes de sommeil, de chronotypes <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1177\/0748730402239679\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extr\u00eames<\/a>, de troubles du sommeil, de consommation de drogues, de consommation excessive d&rsquo;alcool ou de caf\u00e9ine et de perturbations du rythme circadien dues \u00e0 un r\u00e9cent voyage avec franchissement de plusieurs fuseaux horaires.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs ont compar\u00e9 les r\u00e9sultats de deux sc\u00e9narios de sommeil en laboratoire : l&rsquo;un avec une couverture pond\u00e9r\u00e9e et l&rsquo;autre avec une couverture l\u00e9g\u00e8re. Pour chaque participant, la couverture lest\u00e9e pesait 12,2 % du poids corporel du participant et la couverture l\u00e9g\u00e8re pesait 2,4 % du poids corporel du participant. Les chercheurs ont pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 de la salive \u00e0 des intervalles de 20 minutes pendant l&rsquo;heure pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant le sommeil, puis le matin. Elle contribue \u00e0 r\u00e9guler le rythme veille-sommeil en nous aidant \u00e0 nous endormir et, par son influence sur le rythme circadien g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, elle joue un r\u00f4le dans la synchronisation des horloges circadiennes de l&rsquo;ensemble de l&rsquo;organisme.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque la production de m\u00e9latonine est retard\u00e9e ou supprim\u00e9e, la synchronisation du sommeil est directement affect\u00e9e.
