La <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/pulsatile-release-melatonin-mimics-bodys-natural-melatonin-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">m\u00e9latonine<\/a> est une hormone associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la r\u00e9gulation du rythme circadien et \u00e0 la synchronisation du sommeil et de l&rsquo;\u00e9veil. La production de cette hormone commence \u00e0 la tomb\u00e9e de la nuit et son excr\u00e9tion est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement maximale entre 2 heures et 4 heures du matin. Les personnes atteintes de myopie pr\u00e9sentaient des niveaux de production de m\u00e9latonine plus faibles et \u00e9taient plus susceptibles d&rsquo;avoir des rythmes circadiens retard\u00e9s, deux facteurs associ\u00e9s \u00e0 un <a href=\"https:\/\/neurosciencenews.com\/myopia-sleep-circadian-rhythm-18479\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sommeil de mauvaise qualit\u00e9<\/a> et \u00e9galement li\u00e9s \u00e0 un risque accru de d\u00e9velopper une myopie.<\/p>\n<p>Il est int\u00e9ressant de noter qu&rsquo;une <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/opo.12396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 2017<\/a> a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les personnes atteintes de myopie avaient des niveaux de m\u00e9latonine plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s que les personnes ayant une vision normale. Cette \u00e9tude de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 d&rsquo;Ulster \u00e0 Coleraine, au Royaume-Uni, a test\u00e9 les participants en septembre et octobre, puis 18 mois plus tard, en mars et avril, ce qui leur a permis d&rsquo;\u00e9tudier les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/the-role-of-the-circannual-rhythm-in-health-and-disease\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changements saisonniers potentiels<\/a>. Les enfants passent moins de temps \u00e0 jouer dehors que les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes et plus de temps \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur avec des \u00e9crans et des appareils \u00e9lectroniques, ce qui am\u00e8ne les professionnels de la sant\u00e9 oculaire \u00e0 recommander sp\u00e9cifiquement aux enfants de passer plus de temps \u00e0 jouer dehors pour les aider \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper et \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger leur vision.<\/p>\n<p>Ces recherches r\u00e9centes \u00e9tablissant un lien entre le d\u00e9r\u00e8glement du rythme circadien et la myopie ajoutent un \u00e9l\u00e9ment suppl\u00e9mentaire aux liens entre la lumi\u00e8re et la myopie en illustrant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6751071\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00e0 quel point le rythme circadien est \u00e9troitement li\u00e9 \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re<\/a>.
