Les sujets de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude ont \u00e9t\u00e9 choisis sp\u00e9cifiquement pour leurs scores \u00e9lev\u00e9s au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3042595\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Perseverative Thinking Questionnaire<\/a>, un test pr\u00e9dictif con\u00e7u pour mesurer les tendances \u00e0 la pens\u00e9e r\u00e9p\u00e9titive.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le cadre de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude, les sujets se sont vu pr\u00e9senter une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;images appari\u00e9es, certaines s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9es pour leur impact \u00e9motionnel et d&rsquo;autres pour leur neutralit\u00e9 \u00e9motionnelle. En utilisant les mouvements oculaires pour mesurer l&rsquo;attention port\u00e9e par les sujets \u00e0 chaque image, les chercheurs ont enregistr\u00e9 les donn\u00e9es relatives \u00e0 leurs r\u00e9ponses. Les chercheurs ont \u00e9galement interrog\u00e9 les sujets de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude sur leurs habitudes et la qualit\u00e9 de leur sommeil.<\/p>\n<p>En comparant les deux ensembles de donn\u00e9es, les chercheurs ont remarqu\u00e9 que les sujets dont le sommeil \u00e9tait de moins bonne qualit\u00e9 mettaient plus de temps \u00e0 d\u00e9tourner leur attention des stimuli n\u00e9gatifs. En fait, plus le sujet dormait mal, plus il lui fallait de temps pour d\u00e9tourner son attention.<\/p>\n<h2>La pens\u00e9e r\u00e9p\u00e9titive peut avoir un impact sur le bien-\u00eatre mental<\/h2>\n<p>La pens\u00e9e r\u00e9p\u00e9titive, ou sch\u00e9ma r\u00e9current de pens\u00e9es ind\u00e9sirables, peut inclure le dialogue interne n\u00e9gatif, l&rsquo;inqui\u00e9tude et la rumination. Coles, professeur \u00e0 l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00c9tat de New York \u00e0 Binghamton, ce type de pens\u00e9e est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un certain nombre de troubles psychologiques, dont la d\u00e9pression et l&rsquo;anxi\u00e9t\u00e9. Les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimh.nih.gov\/health\/publications\/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-when-unwanted-thoughts-take-over\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">troubles obsessionnels compulsifs<\/a> peuvent \u00e9galement se caract\u00e9riser par des pens\u00e9es intrusives et r\u00e9p\u00e9titives, tout comme le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychiatry.org\/patients-families\/ptsd\/what-is-ptsd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">syndrome de stress post-traumatique<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude ont soulev\u00e9 des questions quant \u00e0 la possibilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 du sommeil pour soulager les sympt\u00f4mes de ces troubles, voire de jouer un r\u00f4le dans leur traitement. Cependant, bien qu&rsquo;elle donne \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir, cette \u00e9tude particuli\u00e8re n&rsquo;incluait pas de groupe t\u00e9moin. Sans groupe t\u00e9moin, il est possible d&rsquo;\u00e9tablir une corr\u00e9lation, mais le lien de causalit\u00e9 reste hors de port\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<h2>Comprendre comment le manque de sommeil favorise les pens\u00e9es ind\u00e9sirables<\/h2>\n<p>L&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/neurosciencenews.com\/sleep-deprivation-obtrusive-thoughts-17193\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00e9tude<\/a> plus r\u00e9cente <a href=\"https:\/\/neurosciencenews.com\/sleep-deprivation-obtrusive-thoughts-17193\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de York<\/a> comportait un groupe de contr\u00f4le. L&rsquo;objectif \u00e9tait de v\u00e9rifier si le manque de sommeil avait un impact sur la capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une personne \u00e0 g\u00e9rer les pens\u00e9es ind\u00e9sirables. Dans le cadre de cette \u00e9tude, les chercheurs ont associ\u00e9 des images de visages \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres types d&rsquo;images, certaines n\u00e9gatives et d&rsquo;autres neutres. L&rsquo;objectif \u00e9tait que les sujets associent le visage \u00e0 l&rsquo;image, de sorte que le visage puisse \u00e9voquer le souvenir de l&rsquo;image \u00e0 laquelle il \u00e9tait associ\u00e9. Ils ont \u00e9galement enseign\u00e9 aux participants des techniques sp\u00e9cifiques pour supprimer les souvenirs qu&rsquo;ils trouvaient d\u00e9sagr\u00e9ables.<\/p>\n<p>Les participants ont \u00e9t\u00e9 divis\u00e9s en deux groupes. Un groupe a \u00e9t\u00e9 autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 dormir la nuit pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant le test de r\u00e9action aux visages, tandis que l&rsquo;autre a \u00e9t\u00e9 priv\u00e9 de sommeil avant le test. La t\u00e2che des participants pendant les tests consistait \u00e0 supprimer les images associ\u00e9es aux visages, en d&rsquo;autres termes \u00e0 ne pas laisser ces images s&rsquo;immiscer dans leur esprit.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les participants du groupe priv\u00e9 de sommeil avaient 50 % de pens\u00e9es ind\u00e9sirables en plus que le groupe qui avait dormi. Ceux qui ont dormi avant les tests ont constat\u00e9 qu&rsquo;au fur et \u00e0 mesure que la p\u00e9riode d&rsquo;\u00e9tude se prolongeait, il devenait plus facile de contr\u00f4ler les pens\u00e9es supprim\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs ont attribu\u00e9 cet effet au r\u00f4le que joue un sommeil suffisant dans les m\u00e9canismes fondamentaux des processus cognitifs. Le manque de sommeil compromet l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 des activit\u00e9s du cerveau pr\u00e9frontal et, par cons\u00e9quent, les processus qui reposent sur ces activit\u00e9s. En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, les gens dorment mieux dans des espaces sombres, calmes, frais et dot\u00e9s d&rsquo;une bonne literie.
