Apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 un questionnaire sur leurs habitudes de sommeil, chaque sujet a subi un examen m\u00e9dical approfondi. L&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de recherche, dirig\u00e9e par le Dr Nan Hee Kim, a constat\u00e9 que les noctambules couraient un risque plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de d\u00e9velopper un diab\u00e8te. Ils pr\u00e9sentaient \u00e9galement une masse musculaire plus faible en moyenne.<\/p>\n<p>Selon le Dr Kim, si les risques pour la sant\u00e9 sont plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s chez les noctambules, c&rsquo;est parce que les personnes qui se couchent tard ont tendance \u00e0 adopter des comportements plus risqu\u00e9s. Bien qu&rsquo;ils puissent dormir toute la nuit, la qualit\u00e9 de leur sommeil n&rsquo;est peut-\u00eatre pas aussi bonne que celle des personnes qui se couchent plus t\u00f4t. En outre, le fait de se coucher plus tard multiplie les occasions de fumer, de consommer de l&rsquo;alcool et de prendre des collations malsaines.<\/p>\n<h2>Se coucher tard peut raccourcir l&rsquo;esp\u00e9rance de vie<\/h2>\n<p>Une autre \u00e9tude men\u00e9e \u00e0 la Northwestern University de Chicago a confirm\u00e9 les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/international-research-review-outlines-night-owl-health-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">effets dangereux pour la sant\u00e9 des noctambules<\/a>. Cette \u00e9tude, qui a examin\u00e9 les habitudes de sommeil de 430 000 personnes sur une p\u00e9riode de plus de six ans, a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les noctambules ont \u00e9galement un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/321475.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">risque plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de mortalit\u00e9 pr\u00e9coce<\/a> que ceux qui se couchent plus t\u00f4t et se l\u00e8vent plus t\u00f4t le matin.<\/p>\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 qu&rsquo;en plus du risque accru de d\u00e9velopper un diab\u00e8te de type 2, les noctambules sont plus susceptibles de d\u00e9velopper un certain nombre de troubles physiques et mentaux. Ces risques accrus pour la sant\u00e9 augmentent la probabilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une mort pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e des noctambules par rapport aux sujets qui se couchent plus t\u00f4t.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen Knutson, auteur de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude, estime que ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne peut \u00eatre attribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la perturbation de l&rsquo;horloge biologique, ou rythme circadien. Il s&rsquo;agit du syst\u00e8me interne qui r\u00e9gule l&rsquo;app\u00e9tit, le sommeil, l&rsquo;\u00e9veil et des dizaines d&rsquo;autres fonctions biologiques. Le rythme circadien repose sur la lumi\u00e8re du jour et l&rsquo;obscurit\u00e9 de la nuit pour maintenir un cycle de 24 heures, mais les habitudes de sommeil non traditionnelles perturbent cette horloge interne.<\/p>\n<p>La solution la plus simple peut sembler \u00eatre d&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/simple-lifestyle-changes-proven-to-minimize-night-owl-health-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ajuster votre emploi du temps pour respecter un horaire de sommeil plus traditionnel<\/a>. Cependant, tout en admettant que certaines personnes ne fonctionnent pas bien en tant que l\u00e8ve-t\u00f4t, Mme Knutson propose une solution plus simple : En adoptant un mode de vie qui vous permet de dormir plus tard et, par cons\u00e9quent, de travailler plus tard, vous pourriez \u00eatre en mesure d&rsquo;adapter votre horloge biologique de mani\u00e8re plus saine. S&rsquo;il est surprenant de constater que le fait de se lever plus t\u00f4t le matin contribue \u00e0 r\u00e9duire le risque de cancer du sein, les chercheurs ont \u00e9galement d\u00e9couvert que le fait de dormir plus de huit heures par cycle augmentait ces risques.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9tude a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les risques pos\u00e9s par le fait de se coucher tard ou de dormir plus de huit heures \u00e9taient moins importants que ceux r\u00e9sultant d&rsquo;autres comportements qui augmentent \u00e9galement les risques de d\u00e9velopper un cancer du sein. Par exemple, le tabagisme, la consommation d&rsquo;alcool et les r\u00e9gimes alimentaires malsains augmentent les risques de cancer beaucoup plus que les mauvaises habitudes de sommeil.<\/p>\n<p>Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, le projet de recherche a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les personnes qui se l\u00e8vent t\u00f4t avaient un risque de d\u00e9velopper un cancer du sein inf\u00e9rieur de moins d&rsquo;un pour cent \u00e0 celui des personnes qui se l\u00e8vent tard. En termes plus simples, cela signifie que seules 10 femmes, voire moins, seraient affect\u00e9es positivement par le fait de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rer les l\u00e8ve-t\u00f4t aux l\u00e8ve-tard.<\/p>\n<p>En utilisant la randomisation mend\u00e9lienne (RM) pour \u00e9tablir la relation de cause \u00e0 effet chez leurs sujets, les chercheurs ont constat\u00e9 que le lien entre une propension plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e au cancer du sein et des habitudes de sommeil inhabituelles existe bel et bien. Il ne faut cependant pas en d\u00e9duire que l&rsquo;adaptation des habitudes de sommeil peut avoir une incidence significative sur le d\u00e9veloppement du cancer du sein. L&rsquo;auteur principal de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude sugg\u00e8re plut\u00f4t que ces r\u00e9sultats int\u00e9ressent les chercheurs parce qu&rsquo;ils motivent la poursuite des recherches sur le sommeil, la sant\u00e9 et le rythme circadien. \u00c0 terme, cette ligne de recherche pourrait aider \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/circadian-rhythm-confusion-and-resetting-our-internal-clocks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">le r\u00f4le de nos horloges biologiques<\/a> dans le maintien d&rsquo;une meilleure sant\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2>La pr\u00e9vention est la cl\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>Le cancer du sein touche aussi bien les hommes que les femmes, bien qu&rsquo;il soit plus fr\u00e9quent chez ces derni\u00e8res. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un type de cancer qui se d\u00e9veloppe d&rsquo;abord dans le tissu mammaire, mais qui peut se propager \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres parties du corps s&rsquo;il n&rsquo;est pas trait\u00e9. La derni\u00e8re enqu\u00eate, men\u00e9e par le National Cancer Institute (NCI) en 2016, a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que 3,5 millions de femmes avaient re\u00e7u un diagnostic de cancer du sein aux \u00c9tats-Unis. L&rsquo;organisation indique \u00e9galement que plus de 13 % des femmes am\u00e9ricaines recevront un diagnostic de cancer du sein au cours de leur vie. C&rsquo;est pourquoi la recherche sur les facteurs de causalit\u00e9 de ce type de cancer rev\u00eat un int\u00e9r\u00eat particulier.
