Cependant, le sommeil n&rsquo;est pas un temps de repos inerte. M\u00eame si vous n&rsquo;\u00eates pas conscient lorsque vous dormez, votre corps et votre cerveau sont tr\u00e8s occup\u00e9s. L&rsquo;une des activit\u00e9s les plus importantes du sommeil est l&rsquo;\u00e9limination des d\u00e9chets et la r\u00e9paration des l\u00e9sions cellulaires du cerveau. Votre cerveau ne peut pas effectuer ces t\u00e2ches essentielles aussi efficacement lorsque vous \u00eates conscient.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque les gens ne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient pas d&rsquo;un sommeil de qualit\u00e9 suffisant, leur humeur est souvent la premi\u00e8re \u00e0 en souffrir. Apr\u00e8s une seule nuit sans sommeil, les gens sont plus r\u00e9actifs sur le plan \u00e9motionnel. Ce g\u00e8ne s&rsquo;exprime principalement dans le noyau suprachiasmatique de l&rsquo;hypothalamus, qui est le centre c\u00e9r\u00e9bral associ\u00e9 au rythme circadien des mammif\u00e8res. Dans une <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/gene\/8863\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00e9tude r\u00e9cente portant sur des personnes souffrant \u00e0 la fois de troubles de l&rsquo;humeur et de troubles du sommeil<\/a>, ce g\u00e8ne s&rsquo;est r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 \u00eatre le lien commun. Les chercheurs ont ensuite \u00e9lev\u00e9 des souris pr\u00e9sentant une mutation g\u00e9n\u00e9tique similaire et ont d\u00e9couvert que ces souris pr\u00e9sentaient des signes de troubles de l&rsquo;humeur tels que la d\u00e9pression et le trouble affectif saisonnier, en plus des perturbations attendues du rythme circadien.<\/p>\n<p>Comme les souris \u00e9taient par ailleurs en bonne sant\u00e9 et g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement normales, PER3 semble contribuer de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 la fois \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 mentale et aux cycles du sommeil. Les chercheurs pensent que le maintien d&rsquo;un rythme circadien sain, qui est difficile lorsque d&rsquo;importants g\u00e8nes de synchronisation fonctionnent mal, constitue une protection contre les troubles mentaux. Lorsque ce g\u00e8ne ne fonctionne pas, les personnes sont plus susceptibles d&rsquo;\u00eatre affect\u00e9es \u00e9motionnellement par des changements dans leur environnement.<\/p>\n<h2>Le besoin de sommeil est inscrit dans les g\u00e8nes<\/h2>\n<p>Il n&rsquo;existe actuellement aucun moyen de corriger la plupart des troubles g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques. Toutefois, les personnes qui ont des probl\u00e8mes d&rsquo;humeur peuvent constater que leurs sympt\u00f4mes s&rsquo;am\u00e9liorent en prenant des mesures pour maintenir des habitudes de sommeil saines. Il est souvent difficile pour les personnes souffrant de d\u00e9pression ou de troubles affectifs saisonniers de dormir suffisamment, mais les suppl\u00e9ments de m\u00e9latonine, la luminoth\u00e9rapie et une bonne hygi\u00e8ne de sommeil peuvent les aider. Cette \u00e9tude et plusieurs autres \u00e9tudes r\u00e9centes sur le lien entre les maladies mentales et le rythme circadien sugg\u00e8rent que le sommeil est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment important de la sant\u00e9 \u00e9motionnelle et physique.<\/p>\n<p>Les gens d&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui ont du mal \u00e0 trouver un sommeil de qualit\u00e9 en quantit\u00e9 suffisante et \u00e0 maintenir un rythme quotidien stable. Cela peut nous perturber, au sens propre comme au sens figur\u00e9.
