Elle a mis en \u00e9vidence des corr\u00e9lations entre les heures de coucher des sujets et leur IMC. Les chercheurs ont conclu que les adolescents ne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient pas des neuf heures de sommeil recommand\u00e9es et que cette perturbation de leurs processus biologiques les emp\u00eache de rester alertes et \u00e9veill\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9cole. Ils ont \u00e9galement constat\u00e9 que ceux qui se couchaient plus tard \u00e9taient <a href=\"http:\/\/neurosciencenews.com\/sleep-time-weight-gain-2796\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plus susceptibles d&rsquo;avoir un IMC plus \u00e9lev\u00e9<\/a>. Pour chaque heure perdue, les sujets gagnaient 2,1 points sur l&rsquo;indice IMC. Lorsque les niveaux de leptine diminuent, ils signalent \u00e0 l&rsquo;organisme qu&rsquo;il a besoin de manger. L&rsquo;augmentation de la faim entra\u00eene alors une suralimentation et, par cons\u00e9quent, une prise de poids.<\/p>\n<p>La <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsph.harvard.edu\/obesity-prevention-source\/obesity-causes\/sleep-and-obesity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard School of Public Health<\/a> affirme que des dizaines d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes men\u00e9es sur les cinq continents ont examin\u00e9 le lien entre les heures de coucher et l&rsquo;ob\u00e9sit\u00e9, mais que les \u00e9tudes les plus convaincantes sont longitudinales (c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire qu&rsquo;elles s&rsquo;\u00e9tendent sur une longue p\u00e9riode).
