Avez-vous d\u00e9j\u00e0 repens\u00e9 \u00e0 votre enfance en vous demandant si vous dormiez aussi bien que dans vos souvenirs ? Connaissez-vous une personne \u00e2g\u00e9e qui n&rsquo;arrive pas \u00e0 dormir suffisamment, m\u00eame lorsqu&rsquo;elle est \u00e9puis\u00e9e ? Il s&rsquo;agit l\u00e0 de sc\u00e9narios courants, car le sommeil \u00e9volue consid\u00e9rablement au cours de la vie.<\/p>\n<h2>Dormir comme un b\u00e9b\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>Comme le confirmeront de nombreux parents, l&rsquo;expression \u00ab\u00a0dormir comme un b\u00e9b\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb est quelque peu erron\u00e9e. Les nouveau-n\u00e9s ont des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/development-of-the-circadian-rhythm-in-infants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">glandes pin\u00e9ales tr\u00e8s peu d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es<\/a> qui ne produisent que de faibles quantit\u00e9s de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/sleep-2\/melatonin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">m\u00e9latonine<\/a>, l&rsquo;hormone essentielle du sommeil, et ce, \u00e0 des heures irr\u00e9guli\u00e8res. Les b\u00e9b\u00e9s nourris au lait maternel re\u00e7oivent de petites quantit\u00e9s de m\u00e9latonine dans le lait maternel, mais les b\u00e9b\u00e9s nourris au lait maternis\u00e9 peuvent avoir beaucoup de mal \u00e0 apprendre \u00e0 dormir la nuit. Les chercheurs en chronobiologie pensent que de grandes quantit\u00e9s de ce sommeil profond sont n\u00e9cessaires pour soutenir la croissance et le d\u00e9veloppement rapides de l&rsquo;enfance.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque les enfants entrent dans l&rsquo;adolescence, leurs besoins en sommeil restent les m\u00eames, mais le rythme de leur horloge circadienne change l\u00e9g\u00e8rement. Malheureusement, nous ne dormons plus jamais aussi bien qu&rsquo;un enfant. \u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte, la plupart des gens ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un rythme circadien solide. La plupart des adultes ont besoin de sept \u00e0 neuf heures de sommeil. Une grande partie de ce temps est consacr\u00e9e au stade III du sommeil non paradoxal, \u00e9galement connu sous le nom de sommeil moyen.
