Qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agisse de pr\u00e9ventifs naturels comme la vitamine C ou de traitements m\u00e9dicaux comme les vaccins contre la grippe, les Am\u00e9ricains d\u00e9pensent chaque ann\u00e9e des millions pour essayer de ne pas tomber malades. Et ce n&rsquo;est pas \u00e9tonnant : la maladie peut co\u00fbter tr\u00e8s cher, entre les visites chez le m\u00e9decin et l&rsquo;absent\u00e9isme au travail. Une nouvelle \u00e9tude sur la biologie circadienne sugg\u00e8re que vous avez moins de chances de tomber malade si vous ajoutez un sommeil ad\u00e9quat \u00e0 votre r\u00e9gime de pr\u00e9vention des maladies.<\/p>\n<h2>L&rsquo;insomnie : Une \u00e9pid\u00e9mie de sant\u00e9 publique<\/h2>\n<p>Alors que vous entendrez beaucoup parler de diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9pid\u00e9mies dans les mois \u00e0 venir, il est moins probable que vous entendiez parler de l&rsquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/Features\/dsSleep\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00e9pid\u00e9mie de manque de sommeil qui fait rage<\/a>. Le CDC estime que 50 \u00e0 70 millions d&rsquo;Am\u00e9ricains souffrent d&rsquo;un trouble affectant leur sommeil et leur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/about-chronobiology\/#CircadianRhythm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rythme circadien<\/a>. En outre, la vie moderne semble con\u00e7ue pour perturber nos cycles naturels, avec des lumi\u00e8res et du stress qui ne s&rsquo;\u00e9teignent pas la nuit. Dans l&rsquo;ensemble, cette \u00e9pid\u00e9mie entra\u00eene des millions de dollars de d\u00e9penses li\u00e9es aux accidents, \u00e0 la perte de productivit\u00e9 et aux maladies chroniques. Ces personnes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9es et ont d\u00fb fournir des informations d\u00e9taill\u00e9es sur leurs habitudes de sant\u00e9 et d&rsquo;autres conditions. Elles ont ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 expos\u00e9es au virus du rhume. Les personnes qui dormaient moins de cinq heures par nuit attrapaient des rhumes quatre fois plus souvent que celles qui dormaient sept \u00e0 huit heures.<\/p>\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude n&rsquo;est pas surprenante au premier abord : des <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/releases\/298894.php?tw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recherches ant\u00e9rieures<\/a> ont montr\u00e9 que les personnes qui dorment moins sont plus souvent malades. Toutefois, de nombreux chercheurs se sont demand\u00e9 si le sommeil ou un troisi\u00e8me facteur \u00e9tait responsable de cette situation. En effet, les personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es et les personnes stress\u00e9es ont tendance \u00e0 moins dormir et, pour des raisons sans rapport avec la biologie circadienne, \u00e0 contracter plus facilement des maladies. En raison de ces facteurs de confusion possibles, les chercheurs de cette \u00e9tude ont ajust\u00e9 les donn\u00e9es afin de comparer des personnes dont l&rsquo;\u00e2ge, le stress et d&rsquo;autres facteurs \u00e9taient similaires. M\u00eame lorsque les donn\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ajust\u00e9es en fonction du stress, de la race et de l&rsquo;origine ethnique, de l&rsquo;\u00e2ge, du revenu et d&rsquo;autres facteurs, les personnes qui dormaient moins \u00e9taient plus susceptibles de contracter des maladies.<\/p>\n<h2>Comment le sommeil peut-il pr\u00e9venir les maladies ?<\/h2>\n<p>Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que le sommeil et l&rsquo;insomnie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/sleep-disorders\/excessive-sleepiness-10\/immune-system-lack-of-sleep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affectent le syst\u00e8me immunitaire de diverses mani\u00e8res<\/a>. Les cellules T, qui jouent un r\u00f4le important dans la lutte contre les virus, commencent \u00e0 diminuer en nombre lorsque les personnes manquent de sommeil. En outre, le nombre de cytokines inflammatoires augmente. Les cytokines sont responsables de l&rsquo;inflammation cellulaire qui provoque de nombreux sympt\u00f4mes d\u00e9sagr\u00e9ables du rhume et de la grippe. Le sommeil est \u00e9galement important pour combattre une maladie une fois qu&rsquo;elle s&rsquo;est install\u00e9e, ce qui explique pourquoi nous sommes plus fatigu\u00e9s lorsque nous sommes malades.<\/p>\n<p>Les effets du sommeil et de l&rsquo;insomnie sur la sant\u00e9 constituent un domaine d&rsquo;\u00e9tude majeur de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chronobiologie<\/a>. Le maintien d&rsquo;un rythme circadien sain est essentiel \u00e0 une bonne sant\u00e9.
