<\/a>Les chercheurs ont fait de grands progr\u00e8s dans l’\u00e9tude de la biologie humaine gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des exp\u00e9riences en laboratoire qui utilisaient g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement des sujets non humains. La recherche sur le terrain est un autre moyen d’\u00e9tudier les organismes. Elle permet d’\u00e9tudier le comportement, la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et la physiologie des animaux et des plantes.<\/p>\nDes questionnaires dans diff\u00e9rentes langues<\/span><\/h2>\ntheWeP m\u00e8ne une forme de recherche sur le terrain en aidant les chercheurs \u00e0 diffuser des enqu\u00eates ou des questionnaires portant sur un comportement sp\u00e9cifique, comme le sommeil<\/a>. Les \u00e9tudes ant\u00e9rieures sur le comportement humain ont \u00e9t\u00e9 entrav\u00e9es par leur taille relativement petite. Un probl\u00e8me encore plus important est que les \u00e9tudes ont eu tendance \u00e0 se limiter \u00e0 une r\u00e9gion ou \u00e0 un pays. M\u00eame si une \u00e9tude portait sur des centaines de milliers d’Am\u00e9ricains, de Chinois ou de K\u00e9nyans, les r\u00e9sultats ne pouvaient s’appliquer qu’aux habitants de ces pays. Ils pourraient ne pas s’appliquer aux Australiens ou aux Syriens.<\/p>\ntheWeP publie sur son site des questionnaires en six langues : anglais, fran\u00e7ais, allemand, n\u00e9erlandais, espagnol et portugais br\u00e9silien. Les participants recevront par courrier \u00e9lectronique les r\u00e9sultats qui leur permettront de se situer par rapport aux autres participants. Les enqu\u00eates sont actuellement limit\u00e9es aux Europ\u00e9ens, aux Australiens et aux Am\u00e9ricains, mais il est d\u00e9sormais possible d’\u00e9tudier les variations \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur de continents entiers.<\/p>\n
De nombreux chercheurs se sont interrog\u00e9s sur l’influence du comportement sur la sant\u00e9. Que doit faire un \u00eatre humain pour acqu\u00e9rir et conserver une sant\u00e9 optimale ? De quelle quantit\u00e9 de lumi\u00e8re une personne a-t-elle besoin ? De combien d’exercice a-t-il besoin ? Les besoins changent-ils au cours de la journ\u00e9e ou de la vie ? On constate souvent que les gens dorment moins en vieillissant. Pourquoi et comment cela peut-il affecter la sant\u00e9 ? L’endroit o\u00f9 l’on vit fait-il une diff\u00e9rence ? Seules des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle, comme celles que leWeP peut r\u00e9aliser, permettent de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions.<\/p>\n
\u00c9tude sur le chronotype<\/span><\/h2>\nL’\u00e9tude la plus importante men\u00e9e par leWeP est l’\u00e9tude sur le chronotype. Il travaille sur ce projet en collaboration avec le Centre de chronobiologie de l’Institut de psychologie m\u00e9dicale de Munich. L’\u00e9tude sur le chronotype a re\u00e7u jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent plus de 50 000 r\u00e9ponses. \u00ab\u00a0Chrono\u00a0\u00bb vient du mot grec signifiant \u00ab\u00a0temps\u00a0\u00bb, de sorte que le chronotype d’une personne est bas\u00e9 sur son horloge biologique ou son rythme circadien<\/a>. Les participants \u00e0 l’\u00e9tude r\u00e9pondent \u00e0 un bref questionnaire sur l’heure \u00e0 laquelle ils se couchent, l’heure \u00e0 laquelle ils se l\u00e8vent, le temps qu’il leur faut pour s’endormir et s’il y a des diff\u00e9rences entre les heures de la semaine et celles du week-end. Ils fournissent \u00e9galement des informations sur leur lieu de r\u00e9sidence, afin que les chercheurs puissent rechercher des diff\u00e9rences r\u00e9gionales.<\/p>\nLes r\u00e9sultats sont envoy\u00e9s par courrier \u00e9lectronique au r\u00e9pondant dans la journ\u00e9e. Ils comprennent un graphique \u00e0 barres repr\u00e9sentant sept groupes de chronotypes, allant des l\u00e8ve-t\u00f4t extr\u00eames aux l\u00e8ve-tard extr\u00eames. Le graphique montre une courbe en cloche assez standard, les participants moyens formant la cloche et les types extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9coces et extr\u00eamement tardifs formant les queues de part et d’autre. Cette \u00e9tude, d’ailleurs, s’int\u00e9resse moins \u00e0 la dur\u00e9e du sommeil qu’aux horaires.<\/p>\n

theWeP publie sur son site des questionnaires en six langues : anglais, fran\u00e7ais, allemand, n\u00e9erlandais, espagnol et portugais br\u00e9silien. Les participants recevront par courrier \u00e9lectronique les r\u00e9sultats qui leur permettront de se situer par rapport aux autres participants. Les enqu\u00eates sont actuellement limit\u00e9es aux Europ\u00e9ens, aux Australiens et aux Am\u00e9ricains, mais il est d\u00e9sormais possible d’\u00e9tudier les variations \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur de continents entiers.<\/p>\n
De nombreux chercheurs se sont interrog\u00e9s sur l’influence du comportement sur la sant\u00e9. Que doit faire un \u00eatre humain pour acqu\u00e9rir et conserver une sant\u00e9 optimale ? De quelle quantit\u00e9 de lumi\u00e8re une personne a-t-elle besoin ? De combien d’exercice a-t-il besoin ? Les besoins changent-ils au cours de la journ\u00e9e ou de la vie ? On constate souvent que les gens dorment moins en vieillissant. Pourquoi et comment cela peut-il affecter la sant\u00e9 ? L’endroit o\u00f9 l’on vit fait-il une diff\u00e9rence ? Seules des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle, comme celles que leWeP peut r\u00e9aliser, permettent de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions.<\/p>\n
\u00c9tude sur le chronotype<\/span><\/h2>\nL’\u00e9tude la plus importante men\u00e9e par leWeP est l’\u00e9tude sur le chronotype. Il travaille sur ce projet en collaboration avec le Centre de chronobiologie de l’Institut de psychologie m\u00e9dicale de Munich. L’\u00e9tude sur le chronotype a re\u00e7u jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent plus de 50 000 r\u00e9ponses. \u00ab\u00a0Chrono\u00a0\u00bb vient du mot grec signifiant \u00ab\u00a0temps\u00a0\u00bb, de sorte que le chronotype d’une personne est bas\u00e9 sur son horloge biologique ou son rythme circadien<\/a>. Les participants \u00e0 l’\u00e9tude r\u00e9pondent \u00e0 un bref questionnaire sur l’heure \u00e0 laquelle ils se couchent, l’heure \u00e0 laquelle ils se l\u00e8vent, le temps qu’il leur faut pour s’endormir et s’il y a des diff\u00e9rences entre les heures de la semaine et celles du week-end. Ils fournissent \u00e9galement des informations sur leur lieu de r\u00e9sidence, afin que les chercheurs puissent rechercher des diff\u00e9rences r\u00e9gionales.<\/p>\nLes r\u00e9sultats sont envoy\u00e9s par courrier \u00e9lectronique au r\u00e9pondant dans la journ\u00e9e. Ils comprennent un graphique \u00e0 barres repr\u00e9sentant sept groupes de chronotypes, allant des l\u00e8ve-t\u00f4t extr\u00eames aux l\u00e8ve-tard extr\u00eames. Le graphique montre une courbe en cloche assez standard, les participants moyens formant la cloche et les types extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9coces et extr\u00eamement tardifs formant les queues de part et d’autre. Cette \u00e9tude, d’ailleurs, s’int\u00e9resse moins \u00e0 la dur\u00e9e du sommeil qu’aux horaires.<\/p>\n
