En pocas palabras, una rodopsina es una <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chm.bris.ac.uk\/webprojects2003\/rogers\/998\/Rhoeye.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prote\u00edna de la retina que detecta la luz<\/a>. Cada mol\u00e9cula de rodopsina contiene una prote\u00edna de color p\u00farpura que la luz decolora r\u00e1pidamente en blanco amarillento. Este criptocromo s\u00f3lo respond\u00eda a niveles de luz muy brillantes, mientras que las moscas de la fruta segu\u00edan mostrando reacciones biol\u00f3gicas incluso con niveles de luz m\u00e1s bajos. Esto suger\u00eda que no se trataba de una mol\u00e9cula cualquiera.
