Los trastornos respiratorios del sue\u00f1o tambi\u00e9n pueden ser responsables de parte del deterioro cognitivo que se observa a medida que nos acercamos a la vejez.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 son los trastornos respiratorios del sue\u00f1o?<\/h2>\n<p>El trastorno respiratorio del sue\u00f1o es una afecci\u00f3n en la que las personas <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resmed.com\/us\/en\/healthcare-professional\/diagnosis-and-treatment\/sleep-disordered-breathing\/types-of-sleep-disordered-breathing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no respiran bien mientras duermen<\/a>, por lo que se someten a periodos de anoxia, o bajo suministro de ox\u00edgeno. Esto hace que se despierten repetidamente, ya que su organismo detecta la falta de ox\u00edgeno y entra en un estado de p\u00e1nico bioqu\u00edmico. La apnea del sue\u00f1o mixta implica una combinaci\u00f3n de estos dos factores.<\/p>\n<p>Independientemente del tipo de apnea del sue\u00f1o, las personas con este trastorno se despertar\u00e1n varias veces por la noche debido a una respiraci\u00f3n deficiente. Sus cuerpos percibir\u00e1n la falta de ox\u00edgeno y responder\u00e1n con un aumento de adrenalina, cortisol y otras hormonas excitantes. El resultado es que estas personas tienen un sue\u00f1o muy alterado.
