Aunque esta sustancia bioqu\u00edmica funciona como hormona del estr\u00e9s -y puede tener efectos negativos en exceso-, es una hormona necesaria para diversas funciones biol\u00f3gicas humanas. Se produce a partir del colesterol en las gl\u00e1ndulas suprarrenales, situadas directamente encima de los ri\u00f1ones. Se libera en momentos de estr\u00e9s, bajo nivel de az\u00facar en sangre, durante el ejercicio y por la ma\u00f1ana. Responde al aumento de las necesidades <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/category\/energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energ\u00e9ticas<\/a> elevando los niveles de az\u00facar en sangre para permitir una energ\u00eda abundante y ayudar a controlar la inflamaci\u00f3n. La hormona tambi\u00e9n <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medical-library.net\/content\/view\/1401\/41\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aumenta el estado de alerta y la cognici\u00f3n<\/a>, mejorando la memoria y, en general, haci\u00e9ndonos sentir m\u00e1s despiertos.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque todas las hormonas naturales pueden tener efectos negativos en el organismo cuando se producen en niveles elevados, tener la cantidad adecuada de cortisol en los momentos adecuados es importante para gozar de buena salud. Estos genes se desactivan por la noche, cuando los niveles de cortisol son bajos. Esto permite que los diferentes relojes del cuerpo humano funcionen sincronizados entre s\u00ed.
