Conocido como \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chronobiology.com\/about-chronobiology\/#CircadianRhythm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ritmo circadiano<\/a>\u00ab, es un proceso biol\u00f3gico y autosostenido que toma sus se\u00f1ales del entorno que nos rodea. Este nuevo estudio sugiere que nuestro ritmo circadiano puede influir enormemente en nuestra sensibilidad a la insulina.<\/p>\n<h2>Resistencia a la insulina y diabetes de tipo 2<\/h2>\n<p>Noviembre es el mes americano de la diabetes, por lo que no es de extra\u00f1ar que cada vez m\u00e1s investigadores se centren en formas de tratar esta enfermedad tan com\u00fan. La sensibilidad a la insulina significa simplemente que el cuerpo se vuelve resistente a la insulina, que es necesaria para mantener niveles normales de az\u00facar en sangre. Cuando nos volvemos demasiado resistentes a la insulina, nuestro cuerpo debe producir m\u00e1s para descomponer y procesar los az\u00facares. Sigue siendo la s\u00e9ptima causa de muerte en Estados Unidos, por lo que los investigadores y profesionales m\u00e9dicos trabajan duro para descubrir nuevas formas de tratarla y prevenirla. Los sujetos fueron ocho perros machos sanos.<\/p>\n<p>En la primera prueba, privaron a los perros de una noche de sue\u00f1o, midieron sus niveles de tolerancia a la glucosa y los compararon con perros a los que no se priv\u00f3 de sue\u00f1o. Los resultados fueron claros: la \u00fanica noche de privaci\u00f3n de sue\u00f1o redujo la sensibilidad a la insulina en un 33% en comparaci\u00f3n con los perros que no se privaron de sue\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>En la segunda prueba, el equipo aliment\u00f3 a los perros con una dieta rica en grasas dise\u00f1ada para inducir la obesidad durante seis meses. Una vez m\u00e1s, midieron sus niveles de tolerancia a la glucosa al final de los seis meses y descubrieron que la dieta alta en grasas reduc\u00eda la sensibilidad a la insulina en un 21%. Curiosamente, privar a los perros de una noche de sue\u00f1o tras los seis meses de dieta alta en grasas no tuvo ning\u00fan efecto sobre la tolerancia general a la glucosa.<\/p>\n<h2>Significado del estudio para los humanos<\/h2>\n<p>El estudio de Broussard demuestra que una sola noche de privaci\u00f3n de sue\u00f1o puede tener un impacto mayor en la sensibilidad a la insulina que seis meses de dieta rica en grasas. Por razones que a\u00fan se desconocen, parece que las personas que consumen dietas ricas en grasas no sufren una mayor resistencia a la insulina debido a la p\u00e9rdida de sue\u00f1o. Por ahora, estos resultados son suficientes para que el Dr. Broussard pida que se investigue a\u00fan m\u00e1s c\u00f3mo y por qu\u00e9 la privaci\u00f3n de sue\u00f1o tiene un impacto tan tremendo en la tolerancia a la glucosa.
